About Me
Jayne Martin MBACP(Accred)
I am an accredited counsellor/psychotherapist and am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). I have experience of working with a wide range of issues: in schools, for agencies, Employee Assistance Programmes, Private medical insurers, and in private practice. Working face to face, online, and on the telephone.
I am passionate about therapy and the benefits of having a confidential space in which to explore the difficulties and challenges that arise in life, as well as the personal growth that occurs when we get to know and understand ourselves better.
I offer telephone and Zoom appointments as well as the option to meet face to face. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you would like to explore ways in which you can safely access sessions - either now or in the future.
If we decide to meet in person, I am based on a quiet road in Allington (ME16) just outside of Maidstone town centre. There is plenty of free parking available and access to public transport close by.
I continually research, read, and access further training to develop my competence and knowledge. Additional training includes:
- Suicide Awareness and Prevention
- Play Therapy
- Bereavement Support
- Panic Attacks
- Existential Perspectives
- Mental Health First Aid
- Trauma Awareness
- Working remotely with Suicide
I am a Mental Health First Aider, have professional liability insurance and an Enhanced DBS certificate.
About Counselling and Psychotherapy:
There are many different counselling models and I am able to tailor my approach to best suit your needs at the time. I aim to provide you with an opportunity to explore and gain a greater understanding of your thoughts and feelings, and a safe environment where you can potentially challenge and change aspects of your life and yourself.
A session lasts for exactly 50 minutes for either a mutually agreed number of weeks, (initially six to eight), or on an open ended basis.
Fees are £50 per session. Payment can be made in cash on the day of the session if we are meeting in person, or by bank transfer 24 hours in advance. Please note that cancellations with less than 24 hours notice will still be charged.
I offer a concessionary rate for counselling students of £40 per session.
What happens next:
If you would like to discuss what you would like from counselling, what I can offer, and get an idea of whether we might be a ‘good fit’ please get in touch

I offer an initial (free of charge) 15 – 20 minute telephone appointment after which we can decide whether to arrange a mutually convenient time for a first session. Further appointments are then arranged on a week-by-week basis until we decide to arrange a final session to bring our time together to a close.
I recognise how daunting it might feel taking that first step and getting in touch and I hope to make that process as easy as possible. If there’s anything I can do to achieve that then please let me know.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Warmest wishes
Jayne Martin
